Last month, the Residential Advisory Committee (“RAC”) announced the Devonshire community assessment fee would increase by 20% in 2024, from $618 to $741 annually. In justifying the increase, the RAC cited the need to build reserves for emergency maintenance, prepare for future costs, and ensure the quality of general maintenance and amenity enhancements.
Devonshire is currently one of the largest communities in Kaufman County and its assessment fee remains competitive with other nearby planned developments, especially when considering the number of events organized by onsite staff and the availability of amenities.
The annual operating budgets are outlined in plain detail on the community website. In addition to the $195,393 increase in reserve transfers, budgeted irrigation repairs increased by $224,600 (+748%), parts & supplies increased by $118,950 (+270%), and contractor services increased by $228,470 (+36%). The janitor contract more than doubled, so remember to pick up your trash!
