Across FM 548 New Planned Community Starts to Blossom

Directly across FM 548 to the southeast of Devonshire, Phase 1 of the Walden Pond residential community will feature 200 homes. Several new homes are now completed and available for sale from Brightland Homes and Lennar Corp. The new homes are mostly priced in the $300k-range with various upgrades available for flooring and kitchen backsplash, for example.

According to the website of the developer, Centurion American Development Group, the multi-phase master plan includes over 2,000 single-family homes on 214 acres surrounding FreeLife Church and across the street near Mustang Creek. Lot sizes will be 40- to 50-ft wide. Future phases are expected to include new build offerings from Mattamy and UnionMain, among others.

For many Devonshire residents, the emergence of a new residential community on previously vacant land provides relief given that the ultimate use of the land was previously unknown. However, the arrival of more residents nearby increases the urgency of TXDOT’s widening of FM 548 north of Highway 80 to a four-lane divided urban roadway. According to TXDOT’s website, the project has completed engineering design work and begins construction within 4 years.
